Learning Environment

The learning environment a student is in plays a major factor in their academic success.  The purpose of the standard is for a teacher to provide an environment that is safe, promotes positivity and respect, and is student-centered in order to promote learning.  The goal of the standard is for teachers to effectively document behavior management and classroom organization plans.  Teachers can’t be expected to know in advance every issue that they may encounter within the classroom.  My classroom management plan is a working document that is adaptable and flexible to change as certain circumstances arise.

Student Safety

My number one priority is student safety.  As a teacher, I’m responsible for the well-being of students not only within my classroom, but among the entire student population within the school. Taking the necessary steps and keeping up to date with protocols for student safety is one of the ways I’m providing the best learning environments possible.

Control Of The Classroom

My classroom set up is warm, inviting, and arranged to optimize student learning.  The ability to use proximity, along with verbal and visual cues, will help me in maximizing instructional time and minimize disruptions.

Positivity

One of my goals is for students to feel comfortable and not feel judged. Creating a positive environment will increase a student’s confidence and learning potential. One of my main mottos will be, “MISTAKES ARE PROOF THAT YOU ARE TRYING!” A positive atmosphere promotes student collaboration, teamwork, and citizenship.

Rapport With Students

Developing and maintaining rapport with students and building a sense of community is another goal of mine. Building respect and trust with each student lets them know you have their best interest in mind.
